The Hotel Kalaonda derives from the skilful and careful renovation of a set of late 19th century buildings, once for rural use, intended for housing landowners and farmers. The restoration of the building units, preserving their original characteristics in the most absolute way, took place in 2009 and since then the hotel has been operational every year and is still in business today.
The hotel is designed as a small rural village, with a narrow central road axis, which stands out in the flat countryside, with a succession of pitched roofs and openings, many of which are framed by ancient stone exhibits. The owner's will, conditioned by the emotions of life lived in that context, wanted to bring back what remained of the original buildings, converting them into an elegant 4-star hotel.

The hotel is located 550 meters as the crow flies from the sea in the Plemmirio reserve. This Marine Protected Area is spread over a perimeter of 14.35 km of coastline along the eastern part of the Maddalena Peninsula, with an area of 2,429 hectares of protected sea. The territory is of great importance from the point of view of flora and fauna, but also from a historical point of view.
