Lesa: Location and surroundings of this property

Lesa is a little municipality on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, stretching from its banks to the hills at its back. It is situated near the well-known town of Arona and has peace and nautre to offer, which feature as its main characteristics. . The town of Arona, on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, is an important tourist centre, which is well connected to the main highways, also close to Malpensa Airport and 60 km away from Milan.
Arona with its rich history was ruled for a long time by the wealthy and powerful Borromeo family: San Carlo Borromeo was born here, in the castle, in 1538.
Walking through this town you will find many churches and squares, among which the church of SS. Martyrs and the Collegiate Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary are very important. The first one contains the remains of the patron saints of the village and preserves, above the main altar, fifteenth-century frescoes that follow the Leonardo school. While the second one, a parish church, had in origin a Gothic style, which went gradually lost due to the countless renovations.
Moving on to the medieval heart of the town, we discover Piazza del Popolo, with its ancient houses and the pier, on which stands a small lighthouse: a favourite tourist spot. However, the most important and fascinating monument of Arona is without any doubts the colossus of S. Carlo Borromeo, which with a height of about 35 meters, ranks second among the highest statues in the world, preceded only by the Statue of Liberty.
Arona offers also different activities for tourists: an old town centre full of shops and restaurants, a beautiful Lakeside promenade, where you can enjoy lovely strolls, beach clubs and small beaches where you can relax during the hot summer days.
