Pedraces is a district of the municipality of Badia in the Badia Valley in South Tyrol and lies at 1,315 m above sea level.
The village offers a very beautiful panorama: it is surrounded by the mountains Sas dla Crusc, Gardenaccia, Lagazuoi, Conturines and La Varela, whose peaks rise over two thousand, sometimes even over three thousand metres. In Pedraces, as everywhere in Alta Badia, the old Ladin traditions are still cultivated with great passion. Throughout the year, events take place that have their origins in the customs of times long past. In summer, numerous hikers, mountain bikers and mountaineers also romp around here, who can choose from countless easy to challenging trails in the legendary mountains of the neighbouring Fanes-Sennes-Braies and Puez-Odle nature parks. A popular excursion destination is the idyllic Sompunt Lake, which is located slightly above the village and can be reached on foot or by mountain bike. In winter, the mountain lake is transformed into an ice-skating rink. If you visit Pedraces in winter, the Alta Badia ski area and the famous Sellaronda are just a few minutes away. However, since the village is a bit away from the big holiday centres, it is also appreciated by those seeking peace and quiet.
