Located between the cities of Alba, Asti and Alessandria, Nizza Monferrato is an important agricultural and commercial center located in the heart of the Monferrato. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its landscape and Barbera wine since 2014. "Nizza è Barbera" is the title of the annual cultural , food and wine event held every year in May. During which, the protagonist is precisely the Barbera d'Asti DOCG, the local wine that has so much fame in Italy and in the world. Noteworthy is the San Carlo Fair which has very ancient origins: in fact it dates back to the year 1516, as favor to the inhabitants of Nizza by William IX, Marquis of Monferrato. Nizza has never neglected to celebrate this anniversary, which coincides with the end of October and the beginning of November, and which, since its establishment, has become a point of reference for a much wider territory than the local area.
