Besano: Location and surroundings of this property

The Municipality of Besano is a very quiet inhabited and residential center near the coast of Lake Ceresio. The etymological origin of the name is not clear, some derive the name from the fact that in ancient times a renowned fair was held in the locality twice a year so the town would have been called "Bis-in-year", while some historians they make it derive from the Celtic-Ligurian root "Bes" with the sense of wooded high ground. Lake Lugano, otherwise known as Ceresio, is a branched pre-Alpine lake along the Italian-Swiss border. Ceresio is the Italianization of the Latin name Ceresium, of uncertain etymology: according to some it can be identified in an ancient Roman toponym "Ceresium" whose more accurate translation would be: "bluer than the sky". A walk from the town center, without any particular difficulty, allows you to reach the Colle di S. Martino which dominates the town from which you can enjoy a panoramic view over the whole Valceresio, Lake Ceresio and the Varese and Swiss Prealps. The municipality offers public services such as gymnasium and municipal library, primary and secondary kindergarten. The Porto Ceresio railway station, 5 minutes away from the center of Besano, connects the provincial capital, Varese with a 20-minute journey while the regional capital, Milan with 1 hour and 13 minutes.
