A magical and an unrivalled atmosphere welcomes the guest who crosses the threshold of the Villa "La Verbanella" for the first time.
Purchased by the Mondadori family in the 1920s, the Villa over the decades became a meeting point for the most illustrious representatives of the 20th century world cultural scene. Walt Disney, George Simenon, Giuseppe Borgese, Emil Ludwig were among the numerous authors and intellectuals that spent some time in the house and left there an heritage. Entering the bright living room on the ground floor, the large fireplace immediately catches the eye because of the signatures of many outstanding italians and foreign poets and writers.
The first signatures are the one of Ernest Hemingway and Thomas Mann, who spent with his wife most of the summer of 1947 in the small guest house of the villa.
Every room of the Villa evokes suggestive atmospheres: the study, the library, the billiard room, are just some of the rooms that capture the guest's attention. A particular note deserves the park, full of ancient trees and flowered corners with a greenhouse, a large fountain and a soccer field.
Through a private passage, it is possible to access the lake area, where there is a large swimming pool, an equipped dining area and two covered docks.
The view of the lake is simply spectacular and you can enjoy it from all the rooms of the villa and from the outdoor patio. The four floors of the villa, connected by a modern elevator, offer numerous suites with lake view, a large and modern kitchen, living rooms and rooms for conversation. The property includes an independent and completely renovated house for the caretakers and a spacious guest house of 200 sqm.

Meina: Location and surroundings of this property

Lake Maggiore is a large lake located on the south side of te Alps. It is the second largest lake of Italy and the largest of southern Switzerland. Lake Maggiore is the most westerly of the three great prealpine lakes of Italy, it extends for about 70 km between Locarno and Arona. The climate is mild in both summer and winter, producing Mediterranean vegetation, with beautiful gardens growing rare and exotic plants. Wellknown gardens include those of the Isola Madre, Isola Bella and the Isole di Brissago, that of the Villa Taranto in Verbania, and the Alpinia botanical garden above Stresa. Lake Maggiore is 68 km long, with a breadth which varies from 3 to 5 km, except at the bay opening westward between Pallanza and Stresa, where this reaches 10 km. Its form is very sinuous, so that there are few points from which any considerable part of its surface can be seen at a single glance. If this lessens the effect of the apparent size, it increases the variety of its scenery. While the upper end is completely alpine in character, the middle region lies between hills of gentler form, and the lower end advances to the verge of the plain of Lombardy. The lake’s jagged banks are surrounded by the Lepontine Alps. The western bank is in Piedmont (provinces of Novara and Province of Verbano-CusioOssola) and the eastern in Lombardy (province of Varese), whereas the most northerly section extends thirteen kilometres into the canton of Ticino, where it constitutes its lowest point above sea-level as well as that of Switzerland.

The appointment for the sale with our real estate agency and our real estate agents is formalized with a written agreement or, without any document, with the utilization of the services shown in our service brochure, in our real estate expose and relevant conditions.
