Calolziocorte: Location and surroundings of this property

The remains of some pile-dwelling structures found at the Lavello, a town located on the eastern bank of the river Adda, indicate probable human life in prehistoric times.
It is also considered likely that the territory of Calolzio was populated in prehistoric times: the presence of a settlement is referable to the Iron Age and to the Celtic culture of Golasecca (IX-V century BC), located at the nearby rock of Somasca.
The remains of the Roman presence dating back to the imperial era are evident. Crossed by the pedestrian road that connected Brescia, Bergamo, Como and that crossed the Adda River thanks to the bridge of Olginate, referable to the III century AD, the settlement of Calolzio gained importance finding various resources allowing for its development.
The first written testimony of a locality of Calolzi, or Corte, dates back to 774, when Rado de Curte appears as a witness in a Bergamasque scroll. This character would be the most ancient inhabitant of Calolziocorte of which there is documented evidence.
The municipality of Calolziocorte was created in 1927 by the merger of the municipalities of Calolzio and Corte, but assumed its current size only in 1928 when the municipalities of Rossino and Lorentino were merged.
In 1992 the municipality passed from the province of Bergamo to the new province of Lecco. The city center is at an altitude of 350 m s.l.m., the railway station at 230 m s.l.m.

Commission Details

The property brokerage engagement with “Finest Italian Estates S.r.l.” (an affiliate of Engel & Völkers Italia S.r.l.) and/or use of the services listed in our brochure or the property for sale on our property cards are governed by a specific agreement and pertinent clauses.
