This Sunday, October 27th, the 34th edition of the Venice Marathon 2019 will take place in Venice. The 42Km, international competition on the Olympic distance of 42.195 km, the most classic and fascinating discipline of athletics; a marathon recognized worldwide by the IAAF and certified Bronze Label.
The Venice Marathon offers, as every year, two routes where are expected over 13,000 runners, who on Sunday morning will give life to a very long colored snake that will connect the Riviera del Brenta, Mestre and Venice up to Riva Sette Martiri, the only goal for both races.
Important data regarding the number of registered women, about 5,000 (40% of participants) and 3,000 foreign athletes from 57 nations.
The marathon crosses the center of Marghera and Mestre, passing through the new museum of the twentieth-century multimedia M9, running among the colorful buildings with polychrome tiles that house the rooms of the museum. Then it runs for over 2 km inside the San Giuliano Park, where the 10k starts, and reaches Venice via the bridge Ponte della Libertà (a flat straight almost 4 km long).
The race then enters the renewed port area and reaches the historic center, the most characteristic part of the race. The athletes will coast along the Giudecca Canal until Punta della Dogana, where they will cross the Grand Canal on a floating bridge built specifically for the marathon.
Passing through Piazza San Marco (high water permitting), near the Campanile and the Ducal Palace, the route will finally reach the finish line in Riva Sette Martiri.
