"Engel & Völkers Luxembourg": Motivation speech - the keys to success according to Nicolas Dedeurwaerder


Who is Nicolas Dedeurwaerder ?

Nicolas Dedeurwaerder has been a real estate agent at Engel & Völkers in Brussels (Sablon) since December 2015. At only 26 years old, he has already won the title of best rental agent worldwide in 2017. In 2018, he took third place and also won the title of best rental agent in Benelux.

On February 6, 2019, we had the pleasure to welcome Nicolas who shared with the Luxembourg team his experience at Engel & Völkers and the keys to his great success. We let you discover his tips through this article.

The key to Nicolas Dedeurwaerder's success

The first few minutes of the morning are focused on the theme of motivation. Nicolas tells us about his beginnings as a real estate agent and how he managed to overcome all the obstacles. The young Belgian had one goal: to be the best in the world. A challenge that may seem impossible but which he brilliantly accomplished at the end of his first year at Engel & Völkers.

How did Nicolas Dedeurwaerder become the best rental agent in the world?

In his early beginnings, Nicolas tells us that he gave a major importance to the study of his territory: the Sablon. He started out in the field, letting himself go to hours of networking with the inhabitants and main actors of this charming district. He tells us that he has always taken every opportunity to exchange his business card in cafés, restaurants, even in discotheques when the nights in Brussels are the busiest. In the shops of the Sablon (hairdressers, shops, cafés...), he likes to offer the GG: the famous magazine of the Engel & Völkers group which combines real estate with the themes of architecture, fashion, travel and luxury in general.

After six months of prospection, Nicolas Dedeurwaerder finally sees his work bear fruit. He experiences this moment as a real takeoff. He signs his first transaction and then the following ones follow one another to reach a total volume of about a hundred rentals per year. In order to support this result, it attaches great importance to the service it offers to owners, tenants and buyers. He confides to us that he likes to exceed standards by advising his clients on the best addresses in the neighbourhood, for example.

According to Nicolas, "With solid skills and a lot of passion everything is possible". Engel & Völkers offered him this great expertise thanks to his initial and ongoing training. The rest seems natural to him. He always works with a smile on his face, in impeccable attire. He advises the Luxembourg team: "Be yourself, love your job, you will succeed".

Then, he talks about the importance of digital tools in his profession as a real estate agent. "The market is changing, the Engel & Völkers platform allows us to be at the forefront of this change. I also use social networks to optimize the marketing of real estate. It is a free tool and more and more promising".

Finally, he concluded by saying that teamwork plays a major role in real estate. Nicolas Dedurwaerder points out that he communicates a lot with his colleagues and also works with the rest of the Engel & Völkers network, which is present in more than 800 locations around the world.
