The spring yacht show season is upon us and Engel & Völkers Yachting are delighted to be presenting the superb sailing yacht for sale, NOSTROMO, at this year’s Palma Superyacht Show, to be held between April 27th and May 1st on Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands.
A truly elegant sailing yacht with a proven charter record, this is the first time NOSTROMO has been listed on the market. The 30m yacht has been fastidiously maintained by the original owner since its launch in 2009. “Not only did the owner have an active input during her build, but in 2014 she underwent a huge refit and has had continuous updates and care since then,” explains Engel & Völkers Yachting yacht broker Charles Crane. “Her condition will certainly help her stand out in the market,” he continues.
For Charles, the yacht has too many stand out features to list. “She really is fantastic in many areas but I would highlight her extraordinary quality, which was created by a combination of some of the best names in yachting. This includes an exterior design and naval architecture by Dubois, a calm and relaxing interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon, all combined in an aluminium construction by the renowned UK shipyard, Pendennis Yachts.”
Charles believes that NOSTROMO’s condition, beautiful lines, deck areas and sail performance should appeal to a huge number of different buyers. “She is a comfortable but high performing sail yacht with four cabins who will appeal to keen sailors looking for a super quality yacht with real pedigree, while her layout makes her suitable for both private families and/or those seeking to maximise her charter potential,” he explains.
The yacht has just received a significant price reduction of €450,000 to have a new asking price of €4,950,000. “This makes NOSTROMO an even more attractive purchase in today’s market,” Charles says.
Now in its sixth year, the Palma Superyacht Show has grown to become one of the most important events on the Spring yachting calendar. Held in Palma’s bustling port, the setting overflows with ambience and is framed by a vibrant waterfront promenade with the spectacular Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma as a backdrop. More than 80 yachts for sale and charter, over 24m in length, will be on display this year. This includes an unrivalled selection of the finest sailing yachts currently on the brokerage market.
In addition, 85 exhibitors from around the world will be present and, after a successful launch last year, the refit and repair area returns. This is testament to Palma’s important position as a centre of yacht maintenance. Along with the business of yachting, the show has a distinctive Balearic flavour and social and networking events bring together yachting professionals from around the globe.
”With a huge sailing and superyacht community, together with fantastic yacht maintenance/repair facilities in Palma, a show located here is the perfect fit for a yacht such as NOSTROMO” Charles says. “The quality of exhibitors, visitors and industry professionals alike mean that NOSTROMO will get the high quality exposure required for a yacht of her pedigree.”
“Palma is certainly becoming the sail yacht capital of the Mediterranean,” Charles says. In fact the region as a whole – from Barcelona to the Balearics – has rapidly grown to become an important centre of yachting to rival the French Riviera.
Along with the modern facilities found in Palma, Barcelona is home to a truly world class marina. With a prime position in the heart of the city, OneOcean Port Vell has the capacity to welcome yachts with a length of 190m, making it one of the few in the world capable of doing so. Next door, MB92 is a state-of-the-art shipyard. The city has recently become the host of two other important yacht shows: the MYBA Charter Show (April 23rd – 26th 2018), previously held in the Italian port city of Genoa, as well as the inaugural LYBRA Superyacht Show which will take place from May 2nd – 5th 2018. The Catalan capital is the ideal destination from which to embark on a Balearic Islands yacht charter.
With a wild natural beauty, dramatic coastline and calm turquoise waters, it’s no surprise that the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera and Menorca offer some of the finest cruising in the world. Although the secluded coves and unspoilt beaches favour discovery by yacht, the mild year round climate, rich culture and vibrant joie de vivre of the Balearics have seen the Spanish archipelago become a popular destination to invest in a primary, or secondary, residence. From traditional, yet thoroughly luxurious fincas – often sprawling estates in the hinterland – to charming townhouses close to all the amenities in Palma, in addition to our yachting operations, Engel & Völkers has a powerful Mallorca real estate presence on with over 15 agencies spread across the island.
