Living in South-Kennemerland
Are you looking for a dream house in the Kennemerland region? The municipalities of Heemstede, Haarlem, Bennebroek, Bloemendaal, Overveen, Aerdenhout, Bentveld and Zandvoort are all part of the Zuid-Kennemerland region. This region has a lot to offer: within reach are forests, beach and dunes and Amsterdam is only 30 minutes by car.
Heemstede is a medium-sized village in Kennemerland and a nice place to live. Heemstede has several beautiful residential areas with charming 1930s houses and villas, good primary schools, numerous sports facilities and a particularly pleasant shopping centre with various shops and restaurants. The shopping centre was voted as the nicest shopping street in the Netherlands in 2013! Also in the field of recreation you will not miss out here. The Groenendaal walking forest, with a children's playground and a petting zoo, is a popular attraction. The city centre of Haarlem and the beach are easily accessible by bicycle.
Haarlem, the capital of North Holland, is a very pleasant city with a beautiful historic centre. The city is characterized by De Grote Markt, in the middle of the shopping area, with its many shops and terraces, as well as the river Spaarne, which flows through the centre and where many boat owners like to do a 'round of Haarlem' in the summer. The many historic courtyards, various museums such as the famous Frans Hals museum and the Teylers museum are particularly popular. Haarlem is also very versatile in the culinary field. Numerous restaurants and nice bars can be found in the centre of the city. Haarlem station has fast connections to Heemstede, Zandvoort and Amsterdam Centre.
Who doesn't want to live near the beach? The beaches of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal are easily accessible from all municipalities within Kennemerland. On the wide sandy beaches of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal you will find many trendy beach bars. The race track of Zandvoort is located near the centre and in May 2020 the Formula 1 will start driving here again after 35 years!
Aerdenhout is a beautiful villa village located between Heemstede and Bentveld and a perfect place to enjoy peace after a hectic work day and a great place for children to grow up. The Amsterdam Waterleidingduinen and estate Elswout are beautiful natural areas in the vicinity of Aerdenhout where you can take wonderful walks. Various good primary and secondary schools and sports facilities such as the ‘Aerdenhoutse Mixed Hockey Club Rood-wit’ are within walking and cycling distance. The residential area is centrally located in relation to the centre of Haarlem and the beach of Zandvoort can be reached in no time. The Heemstede-Aerdenhout Station with direct train connections to Haarlem, Amsterdam, Leiden, The Hague, Rotterdam and various good stores for daily shopping can be found in the centre of Aerdenhout on the Zandvoortselaan. In short, a wonderful place to live within Kennemerland, with everything within reach!
Bentveld is characterized as a villa village located between Aerdenhout and Zandvoort. The village is surrounded on three sides by the dune area and on the fourth side the residential areas continues to Aerdenhout. Despite the quiet and very green living environment, the village is located near the shops of Heemstede/Aerdenhout, the village centre of Zandvoort, primary and secondary schools and higher education, Heemstede-Aerdenhout Station, sports facilities and roads. Zandvoort beach is literally around the corner and within a few minutes you can sit at a pleasant terrace by the sea.
It is almost impossible to live more centrally in Kennemerland. Overveen is a lovely village in the municipality of Bloemendaal, near Haarlem, on the edge of the flowing dune landscape of National Park Zuid-Kennemerland with its own train station where direct connections will take you to Haarlem and Zandvoort in no time. Schools, sports facilities, beach and dunes can be found in the immediate vicinity. For daily shopping, specialty shops and restaurants you can go "around the corner". The pleasant centre of Bloemendaal is also within walking distance.
Bloemendaal is a village in Kennemerland and best known for its luxurious villas, where many country estates have been transformed into beautiful villa parks. Bloemendaal is located in an area with natural beauty. It offers sea and dunes, but also extensive forests and excellent cycling and hiking trails. Various specialty shops, restaurants and the Bloemendaal train station are in the immediate vicinity. Also the city centre of Haarlem, various sports facilities, including ‘B.M.H.C.’ (Bloemendaal mixed hockey club) and ‘C.C. Bloemendaal’ (Cricket Club Bloemendaal), schools both primary and secondary and higher education and the beaches of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort can be reached easily. The well-known open-air theatre Caprera is a popular place to go out for residents of Bloemendaal and the surrounding areas.
