What you should know about this villa

Amenities and special features of this villa

This gorgeous country house, Habeo Horam, of 748m² (NEN Measured), including tennis court, is one of a kind. The villa, a monument of the district, was designed in 1908 by the retupable architect Jacob van den Ban from Haarlem and has many original characteristics and details, as well as a very rich history. The facades, the layout and the stained glass windows have only undergone small changes after 1908, so the villa is very authentic. Villa Habeo Horam has been used as a filming location more than once, and has been described often in literature. The house should be renovated and modernised.

The villa is located in the beautiful village Aerdenhout, nearby the coast and 30 minutes by car from Amsterdam and Schiphol.

Ground floor:
The main entrance is on the west side of the villa. The majestic hall is located behind the vestibule. This hall in the centre of the house, granting access to all rooms, is nothing short of impressive. Some characteristics are the authentic U-shaped staircase with an unobscured view of the first floor ceiling, the special chimney and open hearth with wooden bench and the beautiful stained glass windows (from the famous glazier J. Sabelis) over nearly the full length, which provide the room with a very lovely light. The most impressive thing about the hall is that both the ground floor and the first floor are about 4.4 metres high. So if you sit on the wooden bench in front of the open hearth, you can look up at a space of 9 metres high.
In the right wing there is the spacious salon, the dining room and the adjacent study room and conservatory. The royal dining room has a wooden parquet floor and a hearth with a lovely chimney. Sliding doors grant access to the conservatory, with its stained glass windows that fill the room with gorgeous light. There is an ample landing across nearly the full width of the right wing.
In the left wing of the ground floor you can find the former billiards room, the kitchen and pantry and the dessert room. The kitchen has plenty of closet space, an authentic chimney and a view of the garden and tennis court. The kitchen, pantry and dessert room have a granite floor hidden by modern floor finishing. There is an extra entrance on one side, leading to a hall with guest bathroom, kitchen and pantry, a separate toilet and garage.

First floor:
On the first floor, the majestic hall is once more the centre, granting access to all rooms. Here you will find a big playroom, the master bedroom, the dressing room and the second bedroom. In the left wing there is a corridor with a bathroom, a separate toilet, shower and a third bedroom.
With its Doric gallery and portico and the south-side balcony with vase-like balusters along the full width of the right wing, Habeo Horam clearly has classicist styling elements.
The attic consists of a corridor with three spacious bedrooms and two attic rooms.

Three cellars: boiler room, weck cellar and wine cellar.

The country house is surrounded by a beautiful, sun-filled garden. At the back there are multiple terraces overlooking the well-maintained gravel tennis court, where you can play and have a competition with your family and friends all day long.
