The international property company Engel & Völkers is introducing its established Market Center (MC) concept in the German capital. On 28 November 2018, an exclusive opening event was held at the new MC premises on Hohenzollerndamm with around 250 guests. The Managing Directors of Engel & Völkers Berlin, Christian von Gottberg and Magnus Strümpfel, hosted an evening devoted to the arts. Dr. Kilian Jay von Seldeneck, Managing Director of the long-established auction house Lempertz, used his keynote address to highlight the parallels between real estate and art. Taking guests on an engaging journey through Berlin’s various artistic periods, he revealed the close affinities between these two worlds. Afterwards, visitors had the chance to look around the new Market Center, while enjoying a flying buffet, drinks and music. “We are pleased to be able to expand the brand presence and client proximity of Engel & Völkers in the capital with the new offices. After Madrid, Rome and New York, the MC concept has now also arrived in Berlin,” said Christian von Gottberg.
The MC Berlin has been formed by merging the company’s two licence regions Charlottenburg and Grunewald Zehlendorf. From now on the new Market Center will be brokering premium residential property throughout the west of Berlin, in the neighbourhoods of Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf, Grunewald, Zehlendorf, Lichterfelde-West and Wannsee. The Market Center will be independently managed by Christian von Gottberg and Magnus Strümpfel. Clients currently have a team of 47 real estate agents at their disposal. “By the end of 2019 we intend to increase that number to 70 agents. We are looking in particular for talented sales people, who are very familiar with the Berlin property market and preside over an excellent network,” said Magnus Strümpfel.
Engel & Völkers introduced its Market Center concept in 2013, in order to offer more market expertise with a higher number of real estate agents in cities where international demand is high, and to gain a greater market share in these strategically important real estate markets. An MC provides office space large enough to accommodate up to 300 real estate agents. The licence for a Market Center can cover the entire geographical region of a city, thereby constituting a transaction volume of 10 to 20 traditional E&V Shops and Offices. Other MCs are located in cities such as Hamburg, Rome, Barcelona, Paris and New York City.
