In this article we want to introduce you to the consultant Laura Santinhos and his career as a real estate consultant.
How did your journey at Engel & Völkers begin?
A little over two years ago I was looking for a new professional challenge and this vacancy came up on Linkedin and piqued my interest. The property sector was something I had in mind and would like to try out, so I didn't hesitate to apply. I found the challenge attractive because the entire Alentejo coast continues to see a great deal of investment in the property sector by developers and clients, both national and international, and I think Comporta and Melides will continue to be one of the most attractive destinations in Europe.
What motivated you to look for a change?
Comporta has become very popular in recent years and it is undoubtedly a very special area for me. Being able to combine a new professional challenge with this area seemed like a good option to me, and even though I had no experience in property I decided to take a chance. My professional area has always been Marketing and Communication and every day I end up using the knowledge I've acquired on the way to the commercial and sales side.
What do you value most about collaborating with Engel & Völkers?
The unconditional support of the people who make up Engel & Volkers Comporta, the team spirit and the good humor with which we try to face difficulties and obstacles so that we can continue with maximum motivation every day.
What is your analysis of the sales market in the area you will be working?
As a native of the area, I've always known its beauty, its marvellous beaches and it's exciting for me to be able to show you the best there is here. I'm pleased to see the area constantly evolving, creating wealth and dynamism and I believe it will continue to grow in value over the coming years, making it an excellent area for investment and business.
What advice would you give to people who are looking for a professional change but are afraid?
A change can be an opportunity; if we don't try something new, we can't be sure whether or not we'll like it and succeed. We must always try, with responsibility and resilience. I believe that any motivated person, with effort and dedication, can find success in any area. We just have to give ourselves the space and time to learn, and the results will eventually appear.
What aspect of your profession captivates you the most?
Without a doubt, being able to work in one of the most beautiful and special areas of Portugal and through contact with clients, meeting people from all over the world and showing how this place can be ideal for investing, living or having your holiday home. It's gratifying to realise that the place where we live now attracts people of so many nationalities and from so many different areas. I think that Comporta's international prominence has brought many benefits and much development to the area and I hope that in a sustainable way Comporta will continue to be a destination of excellence.
