As the Director of Engel & Völkers Lisbon, what motivates you on a daily basis?

My biggest motivation is being in constant contact with people every day, whether they are customers, team members, investors or business partners. I always have the certainty that the next day will be more challenging than the previous one. Being part of a project in the making and represent a brand that's of international prestige like Engel & Volkers is no doubt something that makes me wake up every day with a desire to go to work!

What do you consider to be the most important in terms of leadership?

To lead successfully is to understand the behaviour of people, perceive how they think and know what motivates them. This is why communication is always at the top of my agenda every day so that I can motivate and make the best of each element. Ensure a strong team spirit and a good work environment where people can have fun and enjoy working are also factors that I consider important in order to be a successful leader.

What are the secrets to becoming a successful estate agent?
Being an estate agent is first and foremost to be an entrepreneur and have the capability and motivation to run your own business. Having passion for communication with customers, commitment to brand values ​​and motivation to carry out the job tasks are undoubtedly the basis for success in this sector.

Lisbon is fashionable. Is it a good place to develop a career as an estate agent? If so, why?

It's true that Lisbon is fashionable and the market figures prove this. Just in one year more than 6000 million euros were transacted in the city of Lisbon. This was due to the increased foreign investment, the emergence of new nationalities who  want to invest in Lisbon, a greater number of  constructions and the development of the surrounding area of ​​Lisbon. These are great opportunities for anyone planning to start a career as an estate agent. We, at  E&V, offer full training and support to all our agents in order for them to have a successful career.

In your opinion, what differentiates Engel & Völkers from its competitors?

What has differentiated E & V from its competitors over the last few years is first and foremost being a brand of internationally recognised company capable of providing excellence to all those who seek its services. What's more, to be supported by a network of offices with physical presence in more than 30 countries has also been a unique factor that allows us to respond to the needs of our customers no matter where they are. Finally, technological advancement also allows us to be one step closer to the competition with regard to the satisfaction and recommendation of our customers.

Is there any upcoming news about Engel & Völkers Lisbon?

Of course, although we can not yet reveal much detail, we will be opening a new Market Centre in one of the main avenues of Lisbon and will be creating synergies between the various teams. I would have to say that this new MC will be located in a unique place in the capital as far as the real estate market is concerned.
