Due to the recovery of construction projects that had been suspended for several years, but also due to the development of new ones, “the Alentejo coast has been reaffirming and consolidating itself as a new world tourist destination since last year,” says Vitor Paiva, Managing Partner of the Engel & Völkers Comporta agency.
“Carvalhal, due to its location and the real estate projects that are under development in the area (Comporta Retreat, Quinta da Comporta Hotel, Casas da Encosta, the upcoming JNcQuoi Comporta Hotel, La Reserve, Muda Reserve, Sublime, Spatia) is becoming an epicentre of real estate”, says Vitor Paiva.
Last year, the Engel & Völkers Comporta agency marketed about 50 properties, with a value of between 100 thousand euros and 4 million euros. The average sale price was around 500 thousand euros.
Most of the purchases made are for investment in second holiday homes, with the possibility of generating an income by renting out the property to tourists or the locals.
“The expectation for next year is continued development and consolidation in this region, and the desire for the entire population, public bodies, developers and real estate investors to move in the same direction - to create and develop a high-quality destination with high tourist standards that allow us to distinguish from others”, says Vitor Paiva.
The tourist destination, Comporta, comprises the entire region that extends to Brejos, Carvalhal and Muda.
