Polo in favour of the Engel & Völkers Charity
The Tournament, under the motto “It’s time to share!”, raised funds for the Engel & Völkers Charity, which has been working to bring stable schooling to nearly 200 children in Togo, in Africa, since 2008.
Top model Eugenia Silvia and author Boris Izaguirre, who acted as hosts for the Gala, managed to raise awareness of all the guests and, through the Charity Tombola, managed to rack up the impressive sum of 45.000 euros.
Ninon Völkers, president of the Engel & Völkers Charity and Worldwide Traveller Solidarity Award, has been working for the Foundation since 2008, raising funds and concentrating her efforts on working for the children of Agbetiko (Togo), so they would be able to have the opportunity to have a better life in their own country, their own continent.
The Engel & Völkers Charity has created a delicate silk carré, an ode to the elegance and drive of Polo, which were sold exclusively at the event, all profit from the sales will go to the Foundation.
Conceived by the creative genius Javier Escobar and decorated with watercolours by Majorcan artist Jaume Vilardell, this marvellous silk carré is limited to just 350 exclusive pieces, each one hand-numbered by the artist himself. Each of the watercolours is inspired by a brilliant moment on the Polo field at Son Coll, recreating each of the magnificent details that make this noble sport what it is.
Mallorca’s prestigious Relojería Alemana also wished to participate by adding their own contribution; creating a limited edition bracelet that was sold exclusively at the Polo Tournament event, all profit destined to the Engel & Völkers Charity.
Michelin Star Maca Castro’s Argentine Asado
For Christian Völkers “Polo is more than a sport; it is a lifestyle and a wonderful way to get together with friends and share a unique moment”. Which is why, after the match, guests were able to experience a unique gastronomical event, created by Majorca’s very own Michelin Star Maca Castro.
Gazpachos, house-brand snacks, Mediterranean salads and an exquisite Argentine Asado, all washed down with delightful wines from Bodegas Binigual. After dinner, music was the only way to go, and guests danced well into the wee small hours.
