The most expensive locations for ski properties in Italy

Top locations for ski apartments and houses  in Italy are Cortina d'Ampezzo and Courmayeur. Both Alpine resorts are the most sought-after among national buyers. Engel & Völkers anticipates that the number of Italian buyers will continue to rise in 2019.

Cortina d'Ampezzo: Top prices reach 17 million euros

Located in the Dolomites, Cortina d'Ampezzo is renowned as a luxurious ski resort. Properties with panoramic views of the mountains and in close proximity to the main shopping street Corso Italia and the ski slopes are particularly sought after. Apartments in the city centre cost up to 14,000 euros per square metre. The average prices for houses are 11 million euros, with exclusive chalets commanding prices of as much as 17 million euros. “With the Ski World Cup 2021 being hosted in Cortina d'Ampezzo, we expect an even higher demand for residential properties in the coming years,” said Grazia Franchi, Sales Director of Engel & Völkers Cortina, Italy.

Courmayeur: Demand for properties from national and international buyers

The ski resort Courmayeur is set at the foot of Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc. National buyers also dominate the market here, while international clients are from England, Russia and Sweden. The most sought-after residential locations in Courmayeur are at the centre of the resort, where luxurious chalets and new residential buildings with views overlooking Mont Blanc are in particular high demand. The average price for an apartment in the Italian resort is 10,000 euros per square metre. Detached properties here reach peak prices of up to 8.5 million euros. “The construction of several new luxury properties is planned for 2019. So we anticipate a rise in prices once again this year,” said Gianluca Filippi, Sales Director of Engel & Völkers Courmayeur.
