Featured area - Tamboerskloof

Nestling in the arms of Table Mountain, this lovely eclectic suburb, originally a farm, is one of the oldest in Cape Town. Beautiful Victorian-style homes juxtaposed with art deco gems, many still ripe for development and restoration, are making it an increasingly popular residential area. Tamboerskloof is perfectly placed to access the rest of Cape Town and the buzz of the city centre is never far away, Indeed Kloof Street, (aka Tamboerskloor ‘high street’), with its cafes, restaurants and enticing shops is a stone’s throw away, and Long Street a mere ten minutes. In spite of the proximity of urban activity, easily reachable using the local transport network or by foot, the streets here are quiet and tree lined and there is a real air of tranquil gentility.

SHOP

Cecile and Boyd

Originally a lifestyle store, Cécile and Boyd has grown to encompass interior design, architectural concepts, creative direction and visioning. And although Boyd’s founding partner Cécile Tilley retired many years ago, her influence is still keenly felt. The trade showroom is housed, rather appropriately, in a four-storey, sensitively renovated century-old arts & crafts house. Cécile & Boyd’s distinctive style fuses classic, contemporary, Europe and Africa.
