We have some sound advice on how to treat your wood finishes. Whether in your current property or in a new one which you are so excited about, remember that if you have wooden door frames, window frames or any other exterior wood surfaces, any of these surfaces would need regular and quality maintenance.
'It may seem costly or a labour of love, but if you regularly maintain the wood surfaces in your home, you will be rewarded with a noticeably maintained home, which inevitably increases the investment you have made in your property. If left unattended for too long the appearance of the wood will be peeling and it will become discoloured and then the cost and effort to return it to its initial splendour will be considerable and need an unbelievable amount of elbow grease. Why not protect all the wood features from the start and on a regular basis!' says Riaan van Deventer, Head of Real Estate at Engel & Völkers Southern Africa.

From soft to hard woods, Woodgard offers these benefits along with the added advantage of UV protection, water resistance, as well as a durable glossy finish,” says Dulux Brand Manager for Woodgard, Carol-Anne Curtis.
Deep Penetrating Exterior Wood Treatment
For a penetrating wood dressing that protects all exterior wooden surfaces such as windows, doors and barge boards, choose Woodgard Timbapreservative. It is not a varnish and will not crack, flake or disintegrate in timber, but is rather a penetrating dressing that will not obliterate the wood.
It's important to note that Woodgard Timbapreservative is also a maintenance coating and should be applied every 6 to 12 months, or once the first coat has worn through. It has a low sheen appearance and comes in clear, as well as a range of popular natural wood finishes including mahogany, teak, light oak and dark oak. Teak or dark oak is recommended for light woods such as SA pine and mahogany, while light oak should be used for darker woods such as meranti. All five shades can also be intermixed in any proportion.
