Engel & Völkers Durbanville was one of the main sponsors at the Top 10 Athletics event hosted by Curro Durbanville. 12 Pre-schools from the Durbanville area participated in the two hour track only event that was hosted for the second consecutive year. Competing with a strong head wind the children ran the 50m, 80m and 100m in the respected age categories from u/7 to u/13.
It was hard to tell who was more nervous, the children standing at the start line or the parents standing next to the track screaming and cheering their champions on. The athletics teachers from the respective schools also had a chance to compete for the bragging rights of training the top athletes. In the end the children enjoyed the competition and this was evident in the amount of effort they put in in running as fast as their little legs could carry them to the finish where they lunged over the line like true professionals. The top three athletes received medals for each respective race and the winner of each race also received an Engel & Völkers branded cap as photos were being taken by proud parents.
Competition between the Durbanville schools is definitely ripe and we can expect to see great competition in the future. Who knows, maybe we are even witnessing future South African champions in the making.
We invited the top medal winners of Meridian Pinehurst and Curro Durbanville to our shop in Cobble Walk Centre to take part in our Red Hand campaign. Our Red Hand campaign is our initiative to be more involved in our community and schools in the surrounding area.We had fun painting their hands and imprinting it on a large poster that is being displayed with their names in our shop.
