Luxury properties in Frankfurt: market boosted by growing demand

New trends show that real estate buyers are increasingly turning their attention to castles, mansions and country. There is particularly strong demand for estates that ooze historical flair, but are also in close proximity to cities. Lunkewitz manor, which stands in Park Louisa, south-west of Frankfurt am Main, fulfils these requirements. “This extraordinary property is one of the few in Germany that is newly built, but with classical architecture”, explains Christoph Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg, head of the Engel & Völkers Historic Estates division. This particular historic estate can be bought for 19 million euros.


Mansion with 3 outbuildings on a generous plot

This luxury property lies on a plot of approx. 16,215 square metres, to the south-west of Frankfurt am Main. The estate borders the Frankfurt City Forest on two sides. “The plot was designed as a landscape park and, in this size and type, is unique in the Frankfurt area”, Christoph von Schenck reveals. The floor area of 2,720 square metres is spread over several buildings. The classical mansion’s main building, with its 2 lateral wings, is home to offices and living rooms. In view of the mansion lies a classical summer house with a swimming pool. Gatehouse A lends itself to use as an office building, with a total surface area of approx. 288 square metres. Gatehouse B, approx. 308 square metres, is designed for use as an office building and studio. Facing onto the Mörfelder Landstraße, both buildings were erected in the early 20th century by the von Opel family, and were renovated in the mid-90s.


Rare testimony to classical architecture by Quinlan Terry

The exclusive manor, with its Ionic portico and subsequent Doric elements, was built in 1995 in neoclassical style according to plans drawn by the English architect Quinlan Terry. The main entrance hall leads to the two-storey central hall, built in Palladian style, with massive stone columns, pilasters, staircase and circumferential gallery. The left wing houses a large function room, the right wing three guest suites. The individually-tailored rooms boast ceilings 4 metres high. A secondary staircase connects all floors with the basement, where the kitchen, service and storage rooms, wine cellar, staff flats or additional offices, utility rooms and six garage parking spaces are located.


Exclusive fixtures and fittings from the basement to the grass-covered roof

High-quality, durable materials were used during the construction of the whole building, both inside and out. The building’s plinth is made from rusticated ashlar stone; the facades from a wall of smooth, fine plaster and massive pieces of sandstone from the Elbe mountains. The two-storey wings are grass-covered. Inside, the walls are furnished with plaster of paris, elaborate stucco elements on walls and ceilings, and exclusive wallpaper. The wooden-cased interior doors are partially furnished with overdoors and gilded. High-quality stone, solid parquet or carpet flooring and seven open fireplaces further underline the property’s prestigious character.
