Since then, she has been meticulously building her team to ensure that the Engel & Völkers standard is always maintained. We caught up with some of her Area Partners to find out exactly what they love about working for Engel & Völkers.

Why did you choose to work with Engel & Völkers KZN Dolphin Coast?

Eloise: Firstly because of the international brand behind it and agents’ ability to sell to an international clientele. Another reason was that we get to work in specific areas, allowing you to specialise in that area. This eliminates any in-house fighting over listings.

Lara: Mostly because of Karien, her principals and the way that she works. And secondly because of the Engel & Völkers brand, we have an international edge and I think that in the current market, saturated with estate agencies, you need that edge to survive.

Brian: I liked the manner in which Engel & Völkers KZN Dolphin Coast responded to my application. I received a prompt response with all the information I needed.

Priscilla: Because of my 9 years’ experience in rentals, I got a chance to build up a rental department and a good platform for rentals in Engel & Völkers KZN Dolphin Coast.

What do you like about working with Engel & Völkers KZN Dolphin Coast?

Eloise: We have a good support system and an open relationship with our team members and principal. We are able to speak our mind and grow our business together, rather than being dictated to. Karien is very supportive of your ideas and suggestions - that is what I like about working with her and the Engel & Völkers brand.

Lara: I like working with Karien, it is an important factor because she is very supportive. She gave me the opportunity to work in Simbithi Eco Estate, an area that I have always wanted. We work in a close-knit team, which makes you feel more valuable like you are more than just a number.

Brian: I enjoy the job as a whole. To have the freedom to get out and about, meet and interact with different people.

Priscilla: We are all very helpful and supportive. We work together and learn from each other, building our knowledge of real estate as a team.

What do you like most about the area you work in?

Eloise: My area is the Ballito Beachfront. I like the people I get to meet, not only residents but holidaymakers from all over the world as well.

Lara: I've always wanted the opportunity to work in Simbithi. It is an upmarket estate and a completely different product to anything in our market. I like the way that it is eco-driven, there are many walking trails, outdoor activities and they take care of their wildlife and natural environment.

Brian: I have a very diverse area, stretching from Umdloti to Seatides. I enjoy the diversity of these areas and that of the people who live there.

Priscilla: I work in the various Dolphin Coast Estates and the demand for these properties because of their security is great. I have a lot of knowledge on estate property and am accredited to work in all of them. Ballito is a fantastic tourist destination and people come to rent before they buy - this allows our clients to get a feel for the area before they invest.

What do you think about the Engel & Völkers international infrastructure?

Eloise: I think that is the main reason why people are drawn to this brand. It gives you the possibility to market and sell your properties to people overseas. While other agencies might claim that they are international, Engel & Völkers really is - which is definitely a benefit.

Brian: It holds benefit for us because of the international buyers who are interested in our upmarket areas.

Priscilla: With regards to sales and rentals, this is great. A lot of investors who are interested in our areas are based internationally. Because our properties are promoted in other countries it enables us to get more investment interest.
