Wild Rivers Nature Reserve is a 2 600 ha private game reserve 10 km outside Hoedspruit near the Kruger National Park. The reserve is well stocked with plains game and offers 32 stands along the Blyde and Olifants Rivers. The stands are 1 ha in size and are carefully pegged out to offer maximum privacy.
Besides the 1ha stand, each owner is a member/shareholder in the Wild Rivers Nature Reserve Home Owners Association, a registered private company who owns the remainder of the farm. Owners have a say in the future and further development of the reserve and new initiatives and projects.
The reserve is fully managed by different committees consisting of landowners. Roads, electric fencing, security, bush clearing, game management, water reticulation, electricity are attended to by a full-time farm manager assisted by the different committees.
Regular game counts are conducted to ensure that the carrying capacity of the farm is not exceeded and that game species are kept in proportion. The farm carries Impala, Wildebeest, Zebra, Kudu, Giraffe, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Klipspringer, Duiker, Warthog, Leopard, Hyena, variation of smaller cat species - Caracal, Civet, African Wild Cat. On the river, Hippo, Crocodile, Baboon are frequently spotted.
The riverside bush is ideal for hosting the very rare Pel's Fishing Owl. Other species such as Goliath and Grey Heron, Trumpeter Hornbill, Hooded Vulture, Fish Eagle are some of the larger bird species nesting in the Wild Fig, Jackalberry and Matumi trees on the river bank.
