What you should know about this plot of land

Special features of this plot of land

This award winning wine farm is situated near Malmesbury in the Swartland, one hour’s drive from Cape Town. The farm comprises of ±180 hectares, with 60 hectares vineyards and 3.1 hectares olive groves. The vineyards, ranging in altitude of 80-300 metres above sea level, thrive in the ideal decomposed granite soils that lend themselves to the cultivation of wide-ranging cultivars, reflecting diverse terroir traits. The majority of the vineyards are very old bush vines, resulting in low-yielding, intensely flavoured grapes with big taste. The impressive cellar complex produces approximately 140 000 bottles of wine per year of which the majority is exported to over 25 countries across the globe.
The farm was established more than 300 years ago by Cape Colonial Adriaan Van Jaarsveld in 1718. Among the famous visionaries that built the foundations of the farm were viticultural celebrities and pioneers like Desiderius Pongrácz and Abraham Perold. Over the centuries, the farm has grown into a proud enterprise, yet conserving its heritage with the 90 year old cellar still in use today. The current owners fell in love with the farm during their visit to South Africa during the 2010 Soccer World cup. Their flagship wine, Libero No 5, was inspired by their dear friend and former co-owner, sporting legend Frans Beckenbauer.
Buildings on the farm consist of a magnificent wine cellar/processing plant, offices, beautifully restored manor house, managers house, cottage, workers village with nursing school, garages and storerooms. Dwellings are surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens. Approved plans are in place for renovating old staff cottages and further development of self-catering cottages.
Water is supplied from 2 boreholes and 2 dams. Electricity is supplied by Eskom.
