Marciana: Relax in nature

Marciana (LI) is one of the most charming and authentic municipalities on the Island of Elba, located in its western part and set on the slopes of Monte Capanne, the island’s highest peak. It is a place that preserves Elba’s historic and natural character intact, far from mass tourism and immersed in a landscape of extraordinary beauty. The village of Marciana, among the oldest on the island, is an evocative maze of granite alleys, stairways, arches and panoramic little squares that tell centuries of history. From the top of the town, the view opens onto spectacular vistas stretching from the sea to the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, and as far as Corsica on the clearest days. The municipal area includes some of Elba’s most iconic beaches, such as Sant’Andrea, Procchio, Patresi and Cotoncello, renowned for crystal-clear waters, smooth granite cliffs and sheltered coves. Here the sea takes on extraordinary hues, ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Marciana is also a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor activities. Panoramic trails cross chestnut and holm oak woods, linking ancient hermitages, fortresses and breathtaking viewpoints. The Tuscan Archipelago National Park protects much of the area, making it perfect for trekking, mountain biking and walks through the Mediterranean scrub. Marciana is a 25-minute drive from Portoferraio and Marina di Campo and 35 minutes from Porto Azzurro and Capoliveri. Campo dell’Elba Airport can be reached in 30 minutes by car and offers direct flights to Florence and Pisa, as well as Milan and Lugano during the summer period.
