Description
In the heart of the historic center of Figueres, in one of the city’s most emblematic Modernist buildings, this exceptional apartment located on the second floor holds a unique place in Salvador Dalí’s intimate history.
This remarkable building, commissioned by Enriqueta Mas Roger, a member through her mother of the Roger family, a family of merchants and bankers who accumulated Figueres’ greatest fortune in the 19th century, became, from 1912 onward, Salvador Dalí’s family residence.
Installed here from a young age, Salvador Dalí lived here for more than a decade, until his departure for Madrid at the age of 18, where he entered the Real Academia de Bellas Artes.
He also hosted the poet Federico García Lorca (1925 and 1927), while he was preparing the premiere of Mariana Pineda, as well as the filmmaker Luis Buñuel (1929), who came to collaborate with him on the screenplay of Un Chien Andalou.
In the studio he set up in the attic laundry area of this building, Dalí painted works such as Girl at the Window (1925) or the posters for the Santa Cruz Fairs and Festivities (1921 and 1922).
The apartment still preserves today the atmosphere and architectural features belonging to the artist’s family world. Several historical photographs show Salvador Dalí posing in the reception rooms, near the living room fireplace, as well as on the apartment’s balcony, giving this property an exceptionally rare emotional and heritage dimension.
This very spacious apartment retains all the charm of period architecture, with its original hydraulic tile floors in perfect condition, as well as its magnificent stained-glass windows, also exceptionally well preserved.
It opens onto a large entrance hall leading to a bright and spacious living-dining room with access to a wide balcony where Salvador Dalí used to stand. The original childhood fireplace also remains, beside which he was photographed years later.
The apartment includes a large kitchen, two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a very large room currently used as an office, complemented by a mezzanine bedroom, offering multiple usage possibilities. Two private storage rooms, located on the rooftop terrace, complete this exceptional property.
Just a few minutes from the famous Teatre-Museu Dalí, this apartment enjoys a privileged location between culture, gastronomy, and Mediterranean lifestyle, in a city perfectly connected to Barcelona, France, and the Costa Brava.
More than just an apartment, this property represents a unique opportunity to acquire a place directly linked to Salvador Dalí’s youth, within an exceptional and timeless architectural setting.
