The property is located in Sealza, a small village in the emerald green hills above Latte, a picturesque corner of the Riviera di Ponente that leans out into the sea between the far west of Liguria and the Côte d'Azur. It was here that Sir Thomas Hanbury dropped anchor in 1867 and it was love at first sight; it was here that he decided to stop after his countless trips to the Orient and it was here that he fullfilled his dream, a garden where exotic and Mediterranean species could coexist. Today, the Hanbury Botanic Gardens are unique in the whole of Europe both for the variety of botanical species and for the beauty of the tropical and subtropical plants that grow luxuriantly here thanks to the exceptional climate of this area.
