Majorca shines with the latest edition of the Engel & Völkers Polo Cup 2014. Hamburg/Majorca, 4th August 2014.- The latest edition of the Engel & Völkers Polo Cup, held on Friday the first of August in Mallorca, has once again branded the island’s international social calendar, creating a unique atmosphere in the unrivalled and magical setting that is Son Coll, Christian Völkers, president and founder of Engel & Völkers’, finca.

A die-hard Polo fan that loves everything related to horses, Christian wanted to share his passion with his friends by creating a Polo Cup at his finca in Mallorca six years ago. It has turned into THE most important social-sporting event of Majorca’s summer season. “The first edition was a family event with just under 200 guests, “I feel tremendously proud of the International reputation and prestige the Tournament has garnered year after year, and of the ever growing following this fine sport has”, stated Christian Völkers.

This year’s edition brought together over 600 guests from around the world, to raise funds for the Engel & Völkers Charity’s projects in Africa. The top Models Eugenia Silva, Laura Ponte and Nieves Alvarez, the fashion designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, the international choreographer Nacho Duato, the model Antonia Dell’Atte were all there to lend their support to the charity, along with author Boris Izaguirre and Majorcan personalities such as Cristina Macaya and an important example of the most important european aristocracy.

The Tournament, under the motto “It’s time to share!”, raised funds for the Engel & Völkers Charity, which has been working to bring stable schooling to nearly 200 children in Togo, in Africa, since 2008.

Top model Eugenia Silvia and author Boris Izaguirre, who acted as hosts for the Gala, managed to raise awareness of all the guests and, through the Charity Tombola, managed to rack up the impressive sum of 45.000 euros.

Ninon Völkers, president of the Engel & Völkers Charity and Worldwide Traveller Solidarity Award, has been working for the Foundation since 2008, raising funds and concentrating her efforts on working for the children of Agbetiko (Togo), so they would be able to have the opportunity to have a better life in their own country, their own continent.
