The municipality is located in the Schwaz judicial district, on a terrace in the Lower Inn Valley, on the northern foothills of the Tux Alps. The populated area extends over seven hamlets that can be reached by road from Schwaz or from Buch in Tirol. The popular community currently has around 700 residents. The hamlet of Gattern lies to the east of the Graben and the Bucher Bach. The highest point in the municipality of Gallzein is the Gratzenjoch at 1998 m. The district capital of Schwaz is close by and about 30 km from the state capital of Innsbruck. Schwaz offers everything you need in everyday life and the infrastructure is excellent. Numerous shops, doctors, pharmacies, restaurants and bars enliven this beautiful town on the Inn. Schwaz achieved fame with mining in the 16th century and even earlier. As early as the Bronze Age, copper was mined in the mountains between Schwaz and Kitzbühel, which was needed together with tin to produce bronze. Winter hikes are very popular in Gallzein and the well-known toboggan run in the high-altitude Gallzein district of Koglmoos leads from the Gasthof am Berg to the Gallzein municipal office. There are beautiful ski areas all around, such as the Glungezer and the Hecher near Schwaz. The Kellerjochbahn and the Schwaz-Pill lifts, as well as the nearby well-known Zillertal, invite you to do sports. In summer you will find a very beautiful and quiet hiking area that provides pure relaxation. The distance to Schwaz is about 3 minutes by car, Innsbruck is 15 minutes away and you can reach Munich via the A12 in less than 50 minute
