Travelers on their way to Rocha stayed there, where Governor Vicente Garzón operated a salting shed. With the construction of a mill in the 1920s, the town began to grow rapidly. Currently, several plastic artists dedicated to painting and sculpture from all over the world have come to Garzón. There are also art galleries and numerous cultural activities.
