The Parish of Santo António is the result of the merging of three Lisbon parishes: S. José, Coração de Jesus, and São Mamede. Named in honor of Lisbon's patron saint, the parish aims to preserve the past and create new stories in the capital, to integrate all people and businesses into the community life, to value and preserve emblematic places, and also to be an example of innovation, seeking to attract young people and entrepreneurs to this area right in the heart of Lisbon. The Barata Salgueiro neighborhood, the Camões neighborhood (inaugurated in 1880 on the tricentenary of the death of the poet Luís de Camões), the Diário de Notícias building, the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the "Franjinhas" Building, reveal the urban dynamics of this area. The parish includes the renowned Avenida da Liberdade, inaugurated at the end of the 19th century, the "Public Promenade" was created in the likeness of the great European "Boulevards" of the time. A noble area of the city where we find, both on its left and right, great manor houses that represented the wealth and excellence of the area. Until the late 20th century, this area favored the installation of large service companies, but since the early 2000s, there has been a noticeable installation of large international brands and real estate rehabilitation geared towards the luxury residential market.
