El Molar, located between the basins of the Jarama and Guadalix rivers, stands out as one of the first towns in the Sierra Norte. Water has always played a crucial role in this town, with its spa of Fuente del Toro being a notable landmark. Prominent figures such as Queen Isabel II, the Duchess of Alba, Goya and Godoy came to this spa in search of the medicinal properties of its waters, which are especially effective in the treatment of skin and respiratory conditions. Its strategic position on the road to France caused El Molar to suffer the ravages of the War of Independence, being razed to the ground by French troops. In the heart of the town is the Plaza Mayor, where the town hall and the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción are located, which exhibits an impressive Gothic-Renaissance style.
