From the city center, it is about a 20-minute drive through old woods on a well-developed road. The village is surrounded by high mountains covered with pine and evergreen oak forests, olive, almond, orange and carob groves and cultivated fields. The Puig de Galatzo, which means "sharp mountain", with its 1027 meters altitude, outshines the extensive grounds that belong to the World Heritage. The trail from the village to the summit is challenging and takes about 1.5 hours at 444 meters to overcome. There are many relics of Balearic history around Puigpunyent. You will find stone buildings from around 1000 B.C and also from the time of the Roman and Moorish reign on Mallorca. On numerous hiking trails from Puigpunyent you can discover these interesting estates of bygone eras and enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and the sea. With the Reserva Puig de Galatzo you can combine a nature experience with an adventure and create an eventful day for the whole family. Puigpunyent is indeed rather leisurely. Some cyclists and hikers can be found next to the friendly Mallorcans in the cafes, restaurants and squares of the place. From almost all houses of the village you can see the 5-star Hotel Son Net, which is placed on a hill directly in the village. A visit to the old mansion, if only for a coffee on one of the beautiful terraces is always worthwhile. Puigpunyent offers some nice cafes, restaurants, bodegas, a bank and shops for your daily needs.
