Thanks to its climate, protected by the mountains and, consequently, the relief of the winds that occur there, Marxuquera has historically been a favourable place for human settlement. A few minutes from the city of Gandia and Gandia beach with its nearly 4 km of fine sand and crystal clear waters, awarded with the blue flag. This area delights all sports and nature lovers. Historically, the name Marxuquera is extensive to the entire valley, which extends to the limits of Rótova, Palma de Gandía, Beniopa and La Drova. But what determined its identity is the hamlet that was built around the Hermitage, dedicated to the Virgin of Mondúver. Currently, in addition to this original nucleus and the scattered country houses, it also includes the whole set of urbanizations settled in the two Marxuqueras, the Upper and Lower: the Ermita (Ermita I and Ermita II), Barranc Blanc, Xauxa, Montepino, Montesol, Las Cumbres, Racó de Tomba, Racó del Niu, Racó dels Frares, Santa Marta and Molló de la Creu (Molló I and Molló II). With many places of interest to visit such as the Fountain of Lloret, a natural site and source that supplies much of the orchard of Marxuquera and is part of its history, the Cave of Parpalló, this is one of the most important Upper Paleolithic sites in Europe and is listed as a Cultural Interest, included in the list of World Heritage of UNESCO due to its important set of rock art.
