Chapinería is a Spanish municipality and town in the Community of Madrid, belonging to the Sierra Oeste de Madrid region. It is located about 50 kilometres from the capital, on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Guadarrama. Its municipal area covers an area of 101.4 square kilometres, and is formed by a mountainous relief, with an average altitude of 680 metres above sea level. The river Perales crosses the municipality from north to south, forming a landscape of great beauty. The climate in Chapinería is continental Mediterranean, with cold winters and hot summers. Rainfall is scarce, with an average of 500 millimetres a year. The vegetation in Chapinería is made up of holm oak, pine and scrubland forests. In the area of the gullies of the river Perales, you can find plant species of great ecological value, such as the stone pine and the juniper. The fauna of Chapinería is rich and varied. Among the animal species that live in the municipality are the deer, wild boar, fox, quail, rabbit and the Iberian imperial eagle. Chapinería is a municipality with a great natural attraction.
