The Sun of Cannobio

A few kilometers from the Swiss border lies the beautiful town of Cannobio. This ancient village of Roman origin, nestled between the lake and the mountains, has preserved its historic charm; a walk through the streets of the medieval historic center is an absolute must, followed by an aperitif in one of the many bars on the lakeside promenade. The Lido of Cannobio is the most well-known on Lake Maggiore, which in this area, has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag recognition by the Foundation for Environmental Education. A key feature of this beautiful beach is the presence of wind, making it an ideal place for sailing sports, a true paradise for kite-surfing and windsurfing enthusiasts. Just above Cannobio, from the characteristic villages of Gurro and Finero, numerous trekking paths start in the Cannobina Valley, the access point from the north to the Val Grande National Park, the largest wilderness area in the Alps. The village can be reached via the Strada Statale 34 (SS34) which leads from Gravellona Toce (VB) to the state border with neighboring Switzerland or via hydrofoil and boat lines that connect the village with the other towns of the Lake. From Cannobio it is also possible to take the Strada Provinciale 75 (SP75) of the Cannobina Valley which leads into the valley of the same name, from which you can reach Val Vigezzo, the famous Valley of Painters which enchants visitors with its picturesque scenery.
