Bayerisch Gmain, in the Berchtesgadener Land/Upper Bavaria, is the small suburb of Bad Reichenhall. Only the small Weißbach separates Bayerisch Gmain from the neighboring town of Großgmain in Austria. Together with Bad Reichenhall, Bayerisch Gmain forms an attractive spa area. Bad Reichenhall, known for its alpine brine springs and the open-air inhalatorium in the spa park, attracts countless spa guests annually. The city center, characterized by the modern designed pedestrian zone, is a popular shopping city. The Old Royal Spa House, built in the neo-baroque style in 1900, is one of the most representative buildings in Bad Reichenhall. It now serves cultural and social events. Despite its alpine location between the Hochstaufen, Zwiesel, and Predigtstuhl, the climate is relatively mild. The immediate proximity to the festival city of Salzburg and the Mozart Airport makes Bad Reichenhall extremely attractive. The region offers a selection of hiking areas (e.g., the Berchtesgaden National Park), the nearby Thumsee for bathing pleasures, or the cultural highlights of the season in Salzburg. Winter sports enthusiasts can reach Salzburg's ski areas in about 40 minutes, as well as the surrounding cable cars in short car rides. The Bad Reichenhall train station offers connections to the Munich – Salzburg route.
