Campolide was once a good farming land, where there were several farms. On the entire hillside, there were olive groves, orchards, and vineyards. Nowadays, these hills "hide" a quiet and safe neighborhood, with mostly houses from the 70s. Almost the entire neighborhood consists of buildings, but there is a very interesting area (the Calçada dos Mestres neighborhood) overlooking the Águas Livres Aqueduct, where we find semi-detached houses with yards. Here live young people, elderly, and families. There is the movement of those who leave in the morning and return at night, but also of those who live their lives here during the day: for a trip to the local grocery store, or to Amoreiras for other types of shopping. Most of the commerce is concentrated in this center, which was, a few years ago, the largest in the city. Although it is a quiet neighborhood, it is here that all the traffic passes from the Center and moves either to the South or to the Cascais line (and vice versa in the morning). And anyone who makes this journey will come across the Águas Livres Aqueduct, an iconic and grandiose work of 18th-century Lisbon, a complex water collection and distribution system for the city. A must-visit for those who do not know it. It is important to mention the presence of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a hub of attraction for young people to the area, which has consequently helped to develop commerce and services.
