Location: Innsbruck-Land, Tyrol
The municipality of Scharnitz is located at the border with Bavaria at 964 m at the foot of the Karwendel. With the new bypass through the tunnel completed in 2020, Scharnitz, with its slightly over 1,300 inhabitants, is just awakening from a deep sleep and is developing into an excellent location if you want to enjoy the tranquility and magnificent alpine world on the high plateau without missing out on central connections. You can reach the charming Mittenwald in Bavaria in less than five minutes, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in just 20 minutes. The state capital Innsbruck is only 39 km away and is also easily accessible by train, as Scharnitz has a train station that takes you to Seefeld in 12 minutes and to Garmisch in less than 30 minutes. Seefeld, which has been awarded multiple times for winter sports and is famous for being at an altitude of 1,200 m (Nordic Ski World Championship 2019) with over 230 km of perfectly groomed trails, is only 9 km away and offers excellent shopping opportunities. The entry to the excellent trail network is directly in Scharnitz, right outside your new front door, so to speak. Also, the magnificent and equally famous excursion opportunities that make every athlete's heart beat faster! The Karwendel Nature Park covers almost the entire Karwendel massif and is, with an area of 727 km², the largest nature park in Austria. Step out of the house and immediately at the start of the legendary Karwendel March, to the Pleisenhütte or with the mountain bike to the Karwendelhaus, to the source of the Isar, or directly on the famous Karwendel circuit. The possibilities are more diverse than anywhere else and each more beautiful than the last.
