Staged each and every year, the Great Fireworks of la Saint Sylvestre - New Year's Eve - is a must-see celebration held in the city of Liège. Since 2007, the year of its launch, it has continued to stir the heartstrings and to attract many locals as well as tourists from all over Europe and the wider world.
There is no better way to celebrate the new year at the Cité Ardente, as Liège is known! Every December 31st, one of the most impressive fireworks displays in Belgium is put on, staged at the foot of the hill and situated on a terrace within the iconic Place des Déportés better known as "Esplanade Saint-Léonard".
What you need to know is that this festive event is much more than a mere fireworks display. The jets of airborne fireworks harmonise perfectly with the enchanting rhythms of the musical pieces that accompany them. This makes for a truly splendid visual and auditive spectacle to start the new year in beautiful style.
The fireworks display for New Year's Eve 2018-2019 will be staged at the Esplanade Saint-Léonard. The public will have to gather near to the wooden pontoon there, which lies particularly close to the foot of the hill. Guests will be welcomed from 11pm. With two champagne chalets, you will celebrate New Year's Eve as it should be seen in - with joy, good humour and the sense of conviviality that the city of Liège is known for. The fireworks display is put on by the famous company LPL Fireworks of Liège who will also be in charge of the music that will mean 2019 begins in song! Jean-Marc Voet and his team make every effort to offer you an exclusive show which offers the very essence of variety! The music and fireworks are synchronised to perfection. The notes that come at the end are thoroughly thought through to make a crescendo that will raise the spirits, all of the time affording an exceptional experience.
Take note: The grand fireworks show of New Year's Eve begins on December 31st at midnight. Twelve minutes of wonder are thereby provided to you in collaboration. Everything is designed to make this celebration a singular event with all of the necessary security measures in place.
