This small, but charming festival in the province of Liège has been inspiring the country for 19 editions now with voices and instruments from around the world. An anniversary worthy of celebration, but not without taking into account the age of the heritage sites that provide the location for this event. After all, the concerts and performances at the Huy Art Festival all take place in special settings teeming with history, rendering the shows even more intense and intimate.
One of these sites is the luxury cloister of the convent of the Friars Minor. Its exterior walls, choir and structure date from the 13th century and provide a magnificent combination of Mosan style, teaming white limestone and red brick. The concerts also offer visitors the chance to uniquely (re)discover the picturesque Place Verte, dotted with century-old lime trees, the adjacent gothic Saint Mengold church or the Fort of Huy, a memorial to the Second World War. which dates from the start of the 19th century. Events taking place include the new musical project “Prem1ère Esquisse” by RTBF Radio (with Frédéric Malempré, Chris Dane, Nicholas Achten, etc.), a carte blanche performance from the musician Manu Hermia, the fascinating repertoire of American Jazz featuring l’Amicale de la Nouvelle Orléans and plenty of other magical and unforgettable musical encounters between the 20th and 24th of August 2016.
