MIMA is a brand-new member of the family of contemporary art galleries in Brussels, ideally located in the rapidly changing canal area, amid the old toll booths of Ninove Gate and the impressive furniture showroom Dépôt Design. The Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Arts boasts over 1,000 m² of exhibition surface over 4 floors and is the first museum of its kind in Europe, celebrating Culture 2.0 and artistic decompartmentalisation via a clever mixture of graphics, urban creations and viral technology. While its permanent international collection and its two annual exhibitions lead you from one surprise into another, the buildings themselves subtly transform the neighbourhood without altering its historical landscape. After all, the MIMA finds its home in one of the remarkable buildings of the old Bellevue brewery.
Just like its neighbour Meininger, a new environmentally responsible hotel, the museum makes use of industrial masonry brick and concrete. By adding contemporary elements, it provides the structure with a combination of full and empty spaces, covered by a wooden terrace, which offers a unique view on a neighbourhood with a bright urban future. After a stroll up and down the Rue Antoine Dansaert, the MIMA, its restaurant and its art shop therefore offer an ideal cultural visit.
Whether you are looking for a spacious, elegant loft, a luxury penthouse in a historical building or a unique and ecological residential project - you will find a number of exceptional offers in the centre of Brussels.
