Which barbecue should you choose this summer?

With the return of good weather, it's time to plan your next gathering around a barbecue!

The long, sunny days will soon be here and they invite us to take advantage of our outdoor spaces, terrace, garden or even a balcony. Whether with family or friends, having a barbecue is always an opportunity to create a good atmosphere and to have fun. However, choosing a barbecue is not always easy and we want to help you make the right choice. You should also remember to get the essential accessories if you want to have a successful barbecue.

There are different kinds of barbecues

The best known are those using gas or coal. However, there are also electric or concrete barbecues on the market. Here is a quick overview of the advantages and disadvantages of each of the various types:

The concrete and stone barbecue

This is a fixed barbecue that you install in your garden and which requires a fairly large space. In addition, it is heavy and is not designed to be moved, so you must choose the appropriate place so that it is easily accessible, with plenty of room to install a table nearby. With this type of installation, you are guaranteed to have many years of use. Indeed, its robustness and its resistance to wind and rain meant that you don't even have to worry about protecting it during the cold season. Another of its advantages is that it does not take up space in your garage or your garden shed.

The gas barbecue

As it quickly reaches the right temperature, your guests do not have to wait for hours for their sausages to cook. It lights up in 5 seconds and you don't need fire starter blocks. It is also better for your health because it prevents the flames from coming into contact with the ingredients to be cooked and it is much easier to control the temperature whilst cooking. So you will no longer have to stay long hours behind billowing smoke while waiting for your meats to be cooked. Another of its advantages is that, with the exception of cleaning the griddle, it is not necessary to maintain it too often, which represents less effort.

On the other hand, it is a little more expensive to buy than a charcoal barbecue, and you won't smell the appetising aromas of barbecued meat. On the other hand, you could always remedy this absence of odour by filling the smokehouse with aromatic herbs, which will flavour your meats by giving them an original taste.

The charcoal barbecue

Nothing like an aperitif that lasts until the embers of this barbecue become incandescent, a sign that it is hot enough to grill the meat. It takes an average of half an hour after you start your fire. The aromas of charcoal it diffuses will never fail to make your guests mouths water. On the other hand, you will need to bring fire-starting bricks and charcoal that you will install in the barbecue tank. Much more affordable to buy than other types of barbecue, it is also the only one to bring this typical flavour of meat cooked over the coals.

Its only drawback is that it needs to be cleaned after each use. In addition, you will often be the only one who will have to endure the smoke that is emitted during cooking while your guests have a good time.
