The highest asking prices in the world for prime ski resort real estate can be found in Aspen, in the US state of Colorado, where top addresses command prices of up to 125,000 US dollars (approx. 116,000 euros) per square metre. The most expensive location in Europe is currently St. Moritz in Switzerland, where prices per square metre reach up to 100,000 Swiss francs (approx. 106,000 euros). “Besides location, luxury amenities are often what buyers place most stock in when choosing a property. Wine cellars, spas, gyms, home cinemas and smart technologies are usually a must,” says Florian Hofer, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Kitzbühel. “Turnkey properties are in particular demand,” adds Summer Berg, Licence Partner at Engel & Völkers Aspen. “The buyers are ultra high net worth individuals from all over the world. In many cases, they use their premium properties throughout the year, including during the off-peak season,” says Barbara Jost, Licence Partner at Engel & Völkers St. Moritz.
