Oriol Canal will manage the pioneering centre with which Engel & Völkers revolutionised the real estate sector under the concept of MMC. Since it was first inaugurated in August 2012, Canal has actively participated in the success of the Barcelona centre, which already has more than 350 people as staff and agents.
During the four years that he has held the position of Division Director for the Eixample and Ciutat Vella areas, Canal has managed to increase Engel & Völkers' market share by ten times. The company has remained as a leading brand in the luxury property market.
The objective is that "the Barcelona's MMC continues to be the benchmark of real estate brokerage with a continuous innovation and excellent service to its customers," says Canal who, by 2017, plans to achieve growth of 20 per cent in order to reach an intermediation volume of 312 million euros.
Canal holds a Bachelor's degree in business administration and management from the University of Barcelona, EMBA from ESADE, a master's degree in urban and real estate management from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and has two postgraduate degrees from Catalunya Polytechnic. Prior to joining Engel & Völkers, he was the deputy general manager of the real estate firm, Athenaris Family Office, business development manager for Latin America at Royal 4 Systems, California and finally, the manager for the real estate developer, ONCE.
