At Engel & Völkers in Barcelona, we love reaching out to our customers and the public in general. In fact, whenever our busy schedule permits us, we celebrate events that allow us to connect with our clients. The last one was an Open House in Eixample. Here we want to talk about everything we experienced during that day.
The Open House of Engel & Völkers was specifically held last Thursday, May 24th, by the Developments division and took place in an extensively renovated stately building that was constructed between 1897 and 1899 by Enric Sagnier, one of the most famous Barcelonian architects of his time.
This Open House was held on one of the sample floors of the building. This gave us the opportunity to talk to the future owners about the qualities of the materials used and the concept of interior design that is pursued. The objective is to combine the modernist concepts devised by Sagnier and blend them with the most current trends.
There is no doubt that Eixample is today one of the most characterful districts in Barcelona. It is the perfect example of the Catalan avant-garde urbanism and has more than 150 years of history. In fact, this area was created with the purpose of expanding Ciudad Condal's streets, hence its name, in the middle of the 19th century, which gave rise to wider, grid-shaped streets full of tree-lined avenues and pavements.
This building has a privileged location within Eixample. In a radius less than 500 metres, it is possible to find Passeig de Gràcia and Las Ramblas, Plaça de Catalunya, Parc de la Ciutadella, Port Vell, Palau de la Música, and Liceu.
What are the Building's Features?
The elegance of the building's exterior stands out the most, especially when the sun shines on it. The spectacular grandstand belonging to the main floor and its singular balanced tower culminated by a dome are some of its main attractions.
In total 19 homes have been created as a result of this project. All of them stand out for their sober, functional and, above all, modernist flair. 16 of these homes occupy the four original floors of the building and have a size that varies between 126 sqm and 210 sqm. The other three will be penthouses of between 175 sqm and 225 sqm located on the upper floor. The latter are new builds and crown the building.
To all this it is necessary to add that as soon as the owners move into these new homes, they will be able to enjoy the luxury of the two communal swimming pools in this exclusive area of Barcelona. One of the pools is on the upper terrace, is outdoors and has a garden area and solarium. The other, which is an indoor pool, is located in the basement of the building and right next to an extraordinarily well-equipped gym. How many buildings in the area offer the possibility of swimming, sunbathing and playing sports without the owners having to leave the house?
Undoubtedly, this extensively renovated construction project is one of the most valuable for sale in Barcelona and definitely one of the most interesting out of all those available at Engel & Völkers.
