Recently, the Liceu in Barcelona will open its new Ópera Samfaina gastronomy that is going to be far from a traditional restaurant. The new premise will occupy a total space of 950 square metres from La Rambla to Sant Pau street. Its aim is to provide both Catalans and tourists a "gastrolúdica" offer in addition to experiencing the local cuisines.
Ópera Samfaina, un espacio artístico del Liceu en el que disfrutar de la gastronomía catalana
But what exactly is Ópera Samfaina? Well, in general, it can be defined as a non-profitable centre for sampling the Catalan food. It accommodates a bar and various rooms where you can try the different food recipes that are donated by famous artists from all over the world. Cod samfaina, 'empedrat', roast chicken or grilled sausages are some of the great examples.
During the month of September, this complex will host the premiere of L'Odissea Catalana. Around each of its functions, with an approximate duration of 30 minutes, 16 dinning tables are prepared for the guests so they can enjoy dishes prepared by the Roca brothers, who donate their profits to Doctors Without Borders.
