Barcelona has always been a city worth visiting. The capital of Catalonia offers a varied itinerary of activities for making the transition between summer and autumn. September in the city begins with a market where you can buy everything from clothes to electronic products, all at really low prices. The date is Sunday 2nd, in L'Ovella Negra, Zamora Street # 78, Sant Martí. Those interested can visit between 10am and 7pm.
Every Sunday, from July 1st, the Brunch - In The Park 2018 takes over the Joan Brossa Gardens. This is a festival designed for groups of friends, couples and even families with small children. A total of 11 hours of electronic music with great DJs form the main course here.
Setmana del llibre en Catalá 2018
The Catalan Book Week has reached its 36th edition. For 10 days, between September 7th and 16th, the public will have the opportunity to get in contact with booksellers and publishers who distribute reading materials in the Catalan language. It is an event for all ages, which includes presentations, round-table discussions, and readings. The meeting point: Avenida de la Catedral in Gótico Quarter.
Fiestas del Poblenou
With music, dance, sports and much more, during the first 2 weeks of the ninth month of the year, the Festival of the Poblenou will be celebrated. For those who want to discover one of the less known festivals and at the same time, a more traditional event in the capital of Catalonia, the celebrations will take place from 7th to 16th September.
September 24th is the day of La Mercè, the patron saint of the city. For several days there will be festive events throughout the city. Among the varied options, there are the theatrical shows in Ciutadella Park, as well as the traditional events in Plaça de Sant Jaume.
The programme includes concerts, shows of all kinds, open day museums and much more. In the city of Barcelona, the Festa de La Mercé is the mother of all festivals.
September 11th: La Diada
Since 1980, September the 11th has been a commemorative day and declared as the Day of Catalonia by the Parliament. Those who are in the city on that date can visit sites of interest, such as the Moseu de Història de Catalunya or the Palau de la Generalitat, among others. All these attractions are with free entry and without having to book in advance.
On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th, comic lovers will meet up at the Cotxeres de Sants Civic Center. The attendees and the special guests will have access to master classes, talks, and conferences. The climax of KBOOM! is represented by the "traditional" battle of cartoonists.
Quarta de Mahler Concert with Gustavo Dudamel & Mahler Chamber Orchestra
Those who love classical music can enjoy Symphony No. 4 by the Austrian composer, Gustav Mahler. The show will be represented by the prestigious Mahler Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of the Venezuelan, Gustavo Dudamel on Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th at the Palau de la Música.
Maluma, in Concert
For those who prefer something more modern, the Colombian singer, Juan Luis Londoño Arias, better known as Maluma, returns to the Catalan capital. Reggae, trap, and other "urban" genres originating from the Caribbean will be played in a concert that will take place on Saturday the 15th at the Palau Sant Jordi.
Cursa de la Mercè
Sports in the Catalan capital go beyond football and soccer. On September 17th, as part of the programming of the Fiestas de la Mercè, the race will take place. It is a competition in which 15,000 runners will race 10 km through the streets of the city.
Just before the end of the month, a new edition of the International Art Fair in Barcelona will take place. It will be a good opportunity to explore contemporary art. The event will be held at the Fira de Barcelona, from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th.
