What to do in Barcelona during July?

Summer is already here and with its arrival, a number of activities become available in Barcelona. Although the city hosts many events throughout the year, the month of July is one of the most popular. If you live in the city or are planning to visit it in the coming weeks, be sure to pay attention to the following recommendations.

We start the July review with the Holi Festival of Colours Barcelona 2017. On July 29th, the Barcelona Fair (in Montjuïc) will host an authentic music and colour event that anticipates a simply spectacular staging. It should be noted that the organisation has arranged different packages to get tickets, including bonuses for groups among other possibilities. The celebration is inspired by the festival of the same name that is celebrated annually in India and has already witnessed four successful editions in Barcelona.

For movie lovers, July will be a very special month. The Film Archive of Catalonia has prepared an introspective into cinema in the 40s as an interactive experience. In particular, movies that were made between 1944 and 1950 can be watched. Of course, the selection of tapes is complemented with the rest of the films that appear in the catalogue of the Film Library (which are more than seven thousand). Another activity related to the seventh art is the outdoor cinema that is held throughout the summer in the Picnic Space of El Pueblo Español.

Evidently, the summer is especially prodigal in concerts and there will be some great musical events carried out by some of the best artists in the world. On July 9th, Morat will perform at the Forum Park, while the 18th will be the highly anticipated U2 concert at the Olímpico Lluis Companys Stadium. On July 30th, Estopa, one of the most influential Catalan bands, will take their show to the Festival Cap Roig (which is celebrated on the nearby Costa Brava). Other artists who will take part in this event will be Woody Allen (July 8th), Passenger (July 15th) and Pretenders (July 22nd).

As far as performing arts are concerned, the Manicomio del Circo de los Horrores stands out as one of the most striking offers. The show will take place in the Port Vell of the Paseo de Colón until July 2nd. That same day the "Letter to a Man", with the interpretation and co-production of Mikhail Baryshnikov, will conclude in the National Theatre of Catalonia. Also awaiting with great interest, the mythical tragedy of Euripides called, Troyanas, will be shown at the Greek Theatre in Barcelona on 30th July.
